Traveling as an IR Tech

Making the Five-Year Plan Work

First-time IR Tech traveler Brooke G. knows her way around a healthcare facility. She began her career in housekeeping at ProMedica in her hometown of Toledo, OH.

While at ProMedica, she decided to go to X-ray school and looked forward to doing hands-on work with patients and learning more by interacting with physicians. Following school, Brooke earned her ARRT CT and VI certifications.

“I’ve wanted to travel since X-ray school,” says Brooke. “I looked back at my 5-year plan that I made in X-ray school: I wanted to work in healthcare and I wanted to travel.”

Working with a Great Recruiter

Knowing she wanted to travel, she researched a variety of companies and saw that TaleMed had all good reviews. A co-worker worked with TaleMed and recommended recruiter Chris Dietrich.

“I just liked Chris. We clicked well,” says Brooke. “He was honest with me. He was helpful and very informative. When I got my first response from a hospital on a Saturday, he still called me back that day.”

She’s starting her first IR Tech assignment in Asheville, NC later this November and is excited to explore the area and enjoy the warmer weather.

Looking to her IR Tech Future as a Traveler

As she prepares for Asheville, Brooke is looking forward to exploring the local culture for an extended period of time — including hiking, eating and shopping locally, and most of all, learning.

“Traveling is perfect. I like to learn a lot, and I get to be an expert in my field,” says Brooke.

What’s next in her one-to five-year plan? Brooke would love to continue her IR Tech travel career in great spots such as Western U.S. national parks and Hawaii!
