eNLC News: Colorado & New Mexico Approve New Compact

Exciting News! Colorado & New Mexico have joined the eNLC

What does it mean for you?

Colorado & New Mexico joining the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) means more opportunity for you!

Gov. John Hickenlooper’s signing of the new bill expands the nursing pool in Colorado to include nurses from all 29 eNLC states, and allows Colorado nurses to maintain their multi-state practicing licenses. Similarly, Gov. Susana Martinez signed the bill in New Mexico to move this state from the original NLC to the eNLC.

The 86,000 Colorado nurses and thousands of nurses traveling from and to New Mexico who were already a part of the original NLC will be grandfathered into the eNLC.

These two states have become part of the 29 total states who have already joined the eNLC. As of today, six states – Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Vermont have pending legislation to join the eNLC. Only Rhode Island from the original NLC has not taken any action concerning the changes.

How do I apply for the eNLC?

Applicants for licensure in a state that is part of the eNLC will need to meet the uniform licensure requirements.

How do I apply for the eNLC?

You must be a resident of an eNLC state and meet the uniform licensure requirements to have an eNLC license. For states that are new to the Compact License, you are not automatically granted a multi-state license in these new states. We will continue to update our TaleMed nurses as the adoption of the eNLC is ongoing. If at any time you have questions about your license and where it is valid, talk to your recruiter.
